    Abstract/Overview
The ever changing environments within which organizatlons operate has made them to re-think Human Resource Planning. These are changes in technology, office automation, changes in organization structures while designing effective succeSS10n strategies, peoples' attitudes to work, information technology, streams of mergers, acquisitions, international alliances, globalization of businesses, government legislation, competitors, and demographic changes. Faced with these numerous environmental influences, organizations have started to take their Human Resources as an investment and not a cost- to use the old adage:'people are our most important resource, our only competitive edge.' The dissertation will provide a basic theoretical foundation of HRP. as well as a more contemporary analysis of typical and progressive employment practices as found in Maseno University College. The related content includes the integration of the Human Resource function with the general objectives and strategy of the University; Human Resource Planning Processes; career planning; compa.r i sons between Salford University HRP and that of MUC; translation of theory of planning into practice; introduction and the management of the change process; and suggestions for application by Maseno University College.
